Symptoms that bring people in
Weight gain, low energy, poor sleep, low sex drive, mood swings, low mood, poor concentration, memory changes, hair loss and persistent fatigue. These are often described as the classic symptoms of aging, and hormone change is one explanation for them. It is not the only one, which is why the first job is to work out what is actually going on.
Ruling things in and out first
Thyroid disease, metabolic syndrome, sleep problems, low vitamin D, anemia, depression and medication side effects all produce overlapping symptoms. Patients frequently arrive having read about labels such as adrenal fatigue; the useful response is to test what can be tested and treat what is treatable.
Assessment includes a full review of symptoms and of your medical, family and personal history, alongside laboratory analysis — usually blood, and in some cases saliva or urine testing.
If hormone therapy is appropriate
A plan is individual: which hormone, what dose, what route, and how it will be reviewed. Preparations may be dispensed by a compounding pharmacy.
Therapy is not a one-off prescription — it needs repeat evaluation, and doses change. Dr. Gisi will go through the benefits and the risks for your own history, including family history, before you start, and will review the decision periodically rather than leave you on the same regimen indefinitely.
What sits alongside it
Hormone therapy tends to work best as part of something broader: nutrition planning, professional-grade supplements where indicated, exercise, and stress reduction. For some patients those changes alone shift the symptoms enough that hormone therapy is not needed.
